2 outed on the river late on in Party 300k

I had a great run in this tourney, but I'm not sure if this should be in the HOF or Rivered Again

Playing the MLP buyin at the same time I commented at the table that I had AA five times in the first hour, that was amazing, one of them I hit quad aces...and still got action

So that took me up into the leaders, I think I was out in front for a while. I then more or less coasted to the money spots & then the top hundred after about 4-5 hours.

I was still in reasonable shape with 45 left when the hammer dropped. If I win this hand (in the second pic below) I have over 280,000 chips & I have a great shot at the final & 65k

WOWZERS!  What a great payday for you.  Definately belongs in HOF.  Save Rivered Again for hands like that second one when it knocks you out of the tournament AND out of the money.

Congratulations Brian on a very well played tourney.

Oh boy!

Ouch! That is brutal!

very unlucky, did you play a qualifier for a reduced entry, or did you pay the full 215 ?

I only ask as for an online tourny, there's no way I would pay that, but live, I wouldn't hesitate if the payouts were as good...

I paid the full buyin for this one, Ive been doing well lately with lots of cashes, so the bankroll is ok for it

Brian what's the biggest buy-in tourney you've ever played live or online?

The biggest I bought in to would have been when I was playing full time, I'm not sure how much but it was probably the PStars WCOOP main event, somewhere around 2k back then I think. But I have played a lot of the Sunday millions in the past on PStars & Party, & the main event on Ladbrokes LEOCOP. Biggest win was just over 20k in the Ladbrokes 'who's the daddy' tournament with a $300 buyin.

I'm not a big live player, I would like to be but I dont really have the time these days

i still find it hard to think about ponying up any large amount of cash for an online tourny, vs live, but another question, do you feel the quality of payers is way up there, or the same kinda deal with lower entries, which have a wide variety of skill levels ?

After a fairly long layoff from serious poker I am slowly getting back into things & my bankroll is growing nicely....Hey confidence plays a huge part in poker     So if things are going well I will try to ride the wave

Its not until you move above a $100 buyin do you get a real game of poker online. The standard is so much higher, tight play similar to MLP Games but with very aggressive moves & more big bluffing.

I think it was Zarger that said we play ABC poker here, yes we do & there is a good reason for it, its because until players learn ABC they cant move on to the D.
So D represents the moves top players make, moves based upon their read not their hand & you can only do this when there is something big at stake. Its the same in a live game where you have more to loose no matter what the buyin, when you are busted from a live tourney you are off home..end of fun.
In contrast online, they just click the next tourney   But not when they bought in for $100

So yes I will buyin at any level that my bankroll will stand comfortably & the higher the better. I would rather play one $100 tourney than five at $20, less donks & more chance to outplay your opponents.

There are a fair few MLP players that would benefit from playing at a higher level. Some make it to bigger games through playing great in satellites, but I feel they freeze on the bigger stage. Its the same in any walk of life, the more you do it the more comfortable you feel in any given situation.

The best advice I would give the Top MLP players in our HOF is to concentrate for a while on satellites to bigger buyins. & very important...when you make one try to play it like a game, that may sound weird but what I mean is forget about the money side of things, play your best game & go with your instincts, play solid but not over tight, in order to win you must be prepared to loose
