An Important Note about Junk Mail and Viruses

Hackers, Viruses and Junk Mail are everywhere. All members at APF should note that there is currently only two e-mail address that we send messages out from. These addresses are :

alternatepoker@alternate-poker.com

on occassion we may use our primary forum server e-mail address of :

rulesofpoker@myfastforum.org

Should you receive any e-mail's from other similar addresses such as info@alternate-poker.net, admin@alternate.com, harry_lime@rules-of-poker.net, administration@rules-of-poker.com, etc, then these should not be opened but should be deleted and reported to someone here in Admin at Alternate-Poker.

As always, we normally send a newsletter mid-week and tournament reminders which contain text and links. Obviously if you see anything different from that, it is almost certainly not from us. The big thing to be aware of, and this goes for all Junk Mail, is executable files (with the extension .exe). These files will often contain highly damaging viruses to your computer and should be avoided at all costs.

Fortunately, we rarely have these kind of problems, but it's always good to be aware, not just from the forum, but from all outside e-mail you receive from an unknown source.

Good advice Harry and thanks, I am not a computer nerd so am always a bit paranoid about these virus things. Although I have two anti-virus programmes running on my computer I always delete e-mails from anyone that I don't recognise.

I get from 20 to 30 emails a day from places that claim to be Canadian pharmacys. Many of them are trying to sell drugs that require a percription in the US and are fairly cheap if you have a percription. Not from them, you don't need any paper work just lots of money. The cost on one of the drugs they sell I get from my doctors for less than ten cents. They want over a dollar per pill. All also get many ads for penis enlargement. I don't need this. I wish I could make this crap all stop but I can't.
