I wouldn't have had the guts to call unless the guy was a bluffer but it worked out great for you turned out to be a good call.

well it wasent the last call that was the worse in this hand, the bet on flop maybe isen't that good, i dont really know, trying to figure some cash game shorthanded out...Thats why i posted this hand...
After the bet on flop i was commited i think, just wanted to hear that it wasent that bad....and i dont think it was either.
btw. I lost all my money that i got from this pot on a 0.25/0.50 cash game and later that night...
So sick that he insta pushed on the turn with his set, and what was i gonna do? smelled a lower 2 pair...GG carbon poker
zarger11
completely pot comitted...i would of just shipped it instead of betting most of my stack there....then again...
I also dont know that I bet into that board without any of the suits and only Ace-high...but you probably only got paid because you didnt see the turn.

You committed yourself to the pot when you bet the $7. You may be drawing dead, but with about $25 in the pot even if one opponent folds, you don't have enough behind to avoid getting the rest in.
It's not an awful play, but I don't especially like the $7 bet. Since you really can't fold to a push anyway, why not shove to begin with, and possibly give yourself a bit more fold equity? Either that or if you want to keep the option of folding, check and see what happens.

Ok, I guess I'm the idiot here. Yes, it was a bad play, I think. I do not understand betting out $7. Post flop you have a worse hand than you started with. I think it's strictly a gambling play and not at all a strategic one. I don't care how you justify it.
Arjonius
At the point of the $7 bet, there's no obviously good action. Leading out as a continuation bet after missing has drawbacks, such as pot committing yourself with no hand and possibly no draw either. Checking isn't great either.
Maybe it's better to call pre-flop for pot control. Raising to 3.75, if called, creates a situation where, if you make a normal-sized continuation bet, you really don't have enough behind to fold.
Laagen13
i get youre points here. and many ways you can play it i guess...
still the preflop, the raise came from button so i allmost allways raise here. like many others. But when they both calls and i see that flop, i see a big pot in the middle, i now have options of checking or betting, I rather bet then going all in, an all in imo looks weeker then a bet. so i bet 7$ to potcommit myself. and thinkin i cant be that big of a dog.
still rather gambling a 7$ bet then checking and 75% of the times giving away the pot.
