Best starting hand for Omaha H/L?

What do you consider the best starting hand for Omaha H/L?
Is it A2A3 double suited?

I'd go with AAK2 double suited...

There are lots of good starting hands in 08, middle wraps can win large pots with the right flop, but can also turn sour real quick.

More focus is on hands that are worth continuing with.

For instance an A23K hand that flops 864 may not be worth carrying on with if the betting gets heavy in a multi-way pot because of the chances of being quartered.

I quite liked my 3QAQ

I'd go with AA23 Double suitedin O H/L

amazing how many people play with 7789 78910 which are good hands in omaha but junk in H/L

a few have responded with AA23DS as the best, I'm curious as to why not AAK2 (or sub K for Q, J, all double suited to the aces)
as it gives you a better hand at the high end, and still the best low draw hand ?

Good question, Pool. I'm curious about that too...

Also, switching to Omaha Hi, are the best hole cards AAKK double suited? Or is it AAKQ double suited? I've heard claims for both.

A2A3 DS is generally regarded as the best starting hand in O8.

Why is it better than AAK2 DS? Because with the AAK2 your low draw may very well be counterfeited. With the 23 in your hand you have insurance against flopping either a 2 or 3.

So if the flop were to come say 2c 4s Kd the AA23 is still in great shape whereas the AAK2 is now relatively worthless.

Whilst it`s true that the AK combination offers higher straight possibilities you`re not really looking to make straights in Om8b because they`re so often beaten. The real value in these hands are the flush draws. That`s why double suited hands are so popular in Om8b.

I get the double suited part, but the low hand gets split many times, thus it can, even if won, cost you chips, that's Y i feel it's better for a high hand instead of the 2 low cards...course i'm not folding that hand either

I'd go along with the AA23DS for the extra help it gives if one of your low cards is doubled. AA26, AA36 etc can also be killers on a low flop.

Big pots in Omaha often come from drawing hands; A-A-K-Q, A-A-Q-10, A-A-J-10 can be good; and a hand like J-10-9-8 double suited aside from being fairly high on a flush, gives you six high straights to draw to.

But as you have a pair of aces its unlikely that somebody else will have A2 as well. Also if there is 3 of 1 suit on the board you will have 50% chance of the nut flush draw and if your opponent/opponents do share the low you will quarter them
