Cake Poker

Extra Information :
Earning your Bonus : When you have a bonus in your account, you can earn it back by playing in real money ring or tournament games. The details on how you can earn your bonus are detailed below.

Real Money Ring Games : For each dollar that is raked at a table where you are dealt cards, you will earn one Frequent Player Point (FPP). We are accurate to the penny, so if your table was raked $1.25, you will receive 1.25 FPP or if your table was raked $3.00, you will receive 3 FPP. Each FPP is worth $.06 towards your bonus.

Real Money Tournaments : For each dollar worth of tournament fees you pay, you’ll earn 7 Frequent Player Points (FPP) for them once you’re done in the tournament. Just like Real Money Games, we are accurate to the penny, so for a $0.50 tournament fee, you will receive 3.5 FPP.

Bonus Payouts : Your Deposit Bonus sits in your Pending Bonus account, waiting for you to earn it. Your bonus will be paid back in $10 increments (or less if the last amount in your pending bonus is less than $10).

Each time you earn a payment, your Pending Bonus will decrease until the balance reaches zero.

i know what you're saying. i hated poker.com when i first played there as i couldn't seem to win. as soon as i turned it around, i loved it of course. .

these days we have to support the pro-US sites as much as we can and Cake have been kind enough to offer to help by adding some cash to our tournaments. they will continue to do so if we can support them with good turnouts and the dreaded sign-ups .

Great news Harry - I happen to have won some money at Cake and I am looking forward to our games there. I know I was critical of the site several months ago but they seem to have turned things around. They also have some of the most attractive table images. - JR

I've tried reading everything there is on the gold card system, but I'm still confused. I'm confused about the rake needed to qualify to earn a gold card. Is it a table rake or a person rake? How much rake do you need? Can you join a table that has already earn the needed rake and win a gold card off of the bat? Any Cake Poker experts out there want to help a brother out?

i haven't played the ring tables at cake so i can't help you unfortunately. hopefully there is someone here who has !

i'm sure you've read it already but here's what they say on the Cake home page.

You will win Gold Cards by playing at real money Ring Games. Each time you’re dealt cards, one or both of the first 2 cards you are dealt may transform into a Gold Card at the end of the hand even if you folded your cards during the hand!

Gold Cards are chosen via our Random Number Generator (RNG) when a certain amount of rake is collected. This amount is reached much more quickly at a $2/4 FL table than a $.25/.50 FL table. When the appropriate amount of rake is collected the RNG chooses a Gold Card from the Vault. However, there is no guarantee that the selected Gold Card will match any players 'hole cards'. If there is no match then another Gold Card is randomly chosen each hand until a match is found. This may take several hands and may even coincide with the selection of the next Gold Card if enough rake has been collected. Therefore the same player may be awarded of 2 or more Gold Cards in a row.

The current squeeze and I have played two qualifying tourneys on cake for their weekly freeroll and have both been fortunate to have made it through.

It is pleasing to find that the donk-o-meter doesn't go off the scale.

The first couple of hands and last few before the tickets had some interesting calls, but overall, most of the play was challenging and fun.

Seems like a pleasant bunch of players on the site too.

Have you found that cake seems to freeze after the first five-ten minutes of a tourney.

So far, it has frozen almost every time I/we have played there. It has never crashed completely on us though, which is a good thing I guess.

Straightflush and BetUS Poker are going to use the cake software. i believe there are a couple of others also joining but i can't think of them off hand.

i have a few problems with cake on my newer computer so normally play on my older one which runs the software without problems. i know one or 2 others have had some problems so if anyone knows more about this and how to improve the performance - let us know !

the gold card system is difficult to get rolling with unless you are a fantastic high rolling player or a bid depositor seriously there motto is you gotta spand MORE money to get some money - I like the graffix and just playing Im not into collecting cards but it is cool when they ding !
Arsenal28

I enjoy playing at Cake. Had a bankroll there that started with a few bucks in freeroll winnings and cashed out over $200 a few months later. The players are pretty average with most other sites. I do wish they had more players in the SNG's. It can take quite a while to find enough players to get one going.

The gold card thing is pretty confusing. I've gotten a couple and have no idea how it happened.

I'm guessing that Players Only is also a Cake 'skin' site. Can't run both at the same time; they also have pretty good freeroll tourneys rather regularly and if you can get past the first 5-10 minutes or so of donk play, the play level is pretty good. They also have the Gold card and chip system in play.
