freeroll help needed for the 2Kok, so I won a 2K ticket last night, but it's a freeroll I think (flearolls as I call them) and I never seem to do well in those events, I typically go out preflop or off the flop with way the better hand, yet get some demented donkey calling & getting runner runner flush or gutshot straights, or that famous 1 or 2 outter that never misses them as they have no clue how lucky they were to hit it...
so lately my usual stratagy is to take a nap for the 1st half hour at least, eat a lot of tums or rolaids, then start playing, is there a better way ?

well u can try to play the freerolls or flearolls without seeing your cards and see how far you get and then after your game see your hand history so play one game with seeing your cards and another game without seeing card and then play the 2k on which one you did better with lol

I never play the first few levels. Not even my blinds. Unless I'm at a table of sit outs. This is a double edged sword tho. While half the donkeys have left the building, the other half have doubled up through them. But it's easier to dodge one maniac with chips than two of them with stacks the size of your own.
Next, unless I have an absolute monster, I play position only. This usually leads to having only slightly more than what you started with at first break. But it's enough to play with really.
After the break, I play my regular game and try to pay no mind to how many chips the top ten have. My goal is to stay in the top half of the field for the second hour.
If things have gone well, and I have played my cards right, and I find myself with a real stack compared to the rest of table, I may sit out again for a bit to keep myself from doubling up everyone else.
All that being said, I've only won the 1k once, never the 2k. But I have cashed in several. And I don't play them that often.
Good Luck in your flearoll Rob, hope to see you at the final table.

sounds good...

that's where I try to be too, no worries on chip leaders in these things, very few of them got there by playing good poker or premium hands only...

The rolls where you have to win an entry aren't as bad as open ones. How much tends to depend on the size of the field. With more entrants, more people seem to feel more inclined to play bingo.
As for how to play, you can often limp quite a bit and hope to flop big. Also, I tend to devalue big A holdings. Normally, part of their value comes from the chance to be up against a smaller A; i.e. domination. However, when you're less likely to be in two-way pots plus the opponent is more likely to be playing non-dominated holdings, then big As have less of an edge.

Good luck Pool. I used one of my tickets on Saturday. I'm in big blind and get pocket A's. One player raises to 300, another calls. I push with my A's and of course they both call. What you can't see on the screenshot is that the 1st player has pocket 7's with the club.

I will limp the 1st coupla levels with any decent drawing hand even big pairs and hope to hit the flop if i dont hit or my big pairs dont improve and im faced with a big bet i fold
after the first 2-3 levels the all inners are either all outers or will call your big holdings giving you the best chance to double up and if you get caught
who cares its a freeroll
