Getting my hopes up, and then destroyed. So yesterday I was super pumped because I got into this private freeroll that was difficult to get into. The prize pool was $2000, and there was only 45 entrants. First place got $800! I won the first hand and took down a small pot, and then after that I just crashed and burned.
I didn't win another hand for the rest of the game, and I didn't fold a winning hand either, I just could not do anything with the board. These were some of the loosest players I've ever played against too, so bluffing was pretty much not an option. The most I've ever won in a tourney is around $50, so this tourney for me was like going on a date with a super model and then throwing up on her.

must of been really dissapointing especially being only 45 entrants. It really hurts when you play a tourney and catch no cards whatsoever opposed to getting knocked out by a better hand.

Brilliant story Nate, shame about the result, but the super model analogy made me laugh.
At times like that, take heart that your skills got you into the game in the first place. I'm guessing that a 45 entrant $2000 freeroll would have had a mighty hard quaillification game.
Next time it'll be yours for the taking.

Yeah finding events like that are often difficult. Sorry to hear that you didn't do better but we have all had many days like that..

Well now I feel better about missing a $300 freeroll with 15 people in it. I got the dates mixed up and never even got to play at all. I feel your pain about the crappy cards. Nothing more frustrating that sitting a table of poor players and not getting the cards to do a thing about it. I've played a few tournaments where I went all the way to the first break with never winning a hand. It is amazing how cold cards can go every once in a while.
