In a cash tourney i would say this is quite a good spot
but would you play this differently cos its a sat
harry_lime

we're talking about you going all-in right ?

the problem here is that the one player you really don't want to be duelling with at this time has made a very healthy raise from early position and she can afford to call you all-in without hurting to much.

do you want to risk a coin flip (if you're lucky, maybe an under pair) at this point when you're in such good shape for a top 3 finish ? (the raise does look suspiciously like a weaker pair or Ace rag though). not forgetting that you still have 3 players behind you too.

i think much would depend on the dynamic of the table at this point. are a lot of players pushing, how is your image and especially if you've been able to steal pots regularly from the other stacks. if you've been bleeding of course then this changes things.

but if you're flow is good and given the circumstances of a top 3 from 6, i might even be tempted to fold here.

very hard to say with just the cold stacks.

Without any info on likely hands that princess has been raising with it's hard to say one way or the other.

You could afford a smooth call and a get off to an unfavorable flop, but have to wonder if a later player will find the pot tempting enough to shove pre-flop.

As a safety valve; one thing I keep in mind with medium PP's is, take three ranks off the cards and then consider how you'd play it.

Princess had been making similar type raises a few times
Some had got through but she had folded to pushes a couple of times
Miklosik

even if princess is just splashing around a bit, you're gonna find yourself in a race I think.  I don't think a smooth call is the answer here.  You know there will be over cards are the board at some point.

shove or muck are the only choices imo.

i think i would fold, satellites is different from normal tournies, chips you have are more worth than chips you can win. it is more about staying around average and keeping position than go out on semi risky hands to gain some extra chips / double up

you are 3rd at this time and have lots of chips, 27bb, so i see no point in risking them at this point. most of the times you are ahead here, but i wouldnt want to risk it to go all in here

i will try to get Mullet to this thread, i know he knows satellite play better than i do, hopefully he can share some of his divine knowledge
HOUSECATS

In a sat that is the only player you don't want to fool with. Your purpose is to win the sit not the tourney. So just to stay alive is your goal. I would fold to that bet and play your position to pick up the blinds every chance you can. You should be able to steal the blinds pretty easy from the tight players that are lift.

A call was out of the question i didnt want to have to call a push from a smaller stack
From the action in previous hands i was more than tempted to push myself
in fact if it had been a normal tourney i probly would have but i folded the hand
Not that it did me any good i still went out in 5th when my flopped set (top) ran into 2 pair (bottom) which filled up on the river

I guess i should have played that faster rather than trying to be clever
Miklosik

if you flopped top set, whatever filled him up should have filled you better.

exactly right.

in the circumstance, i think you still made the right choice with the 10's based on your situation and in that last hand, you had to be delighted with what you saw when the money went in. your opponent has a 4 outer and i'd take that position anytime.

just very, very unlucky my friend but that doesn't mean you didn't play it great.

Sorry Mik
I read it wrong i had middle set and they had top and bottom

I would post it up but for some reason WH hand history comes in a strange format just posting the details for the 1st hand took me about 1/2 hour to sort out the bits i wanted
Miklosik

I also think you played the TT correctly, Den.  When first, second, third all pay the same, there would be no need to risk your life there.
