Help with mixing it up

So here is a problem  I am having lately is trying to mix it up.. meaning i play one style and I try to mix it but then i keep going back to the same way of playing..  so how do some of you change your style of playing if your used  to playing one style for awile.. if  I mixed it up in the begiinig.. i can do it...  but   for instant if  i am playing good for a long period of time that style i am Playing then.. affter along period I need to mixe it up because I am going down now so I try to mix it but sometimes I ended back to my old online style... because  i am so used to it and it was  working for me until I needed to mix it up.. sometimes it can be hard changing gears if i dont    mix it up in the early stages...

Mixing it up can be relevant to how the table is playing.

If you have an overall good strategy I'd say stick to what works but tinker with the base model.

If you want to try different hands (out of position) play ones which are still valuable. If you for instance play low suited gapped aggressively from early order or call a raise from the BB when you have enough chips, recognise if you show your cards (at the showdown or not) that the table may see you in a different light and exploit that.

Mixing it up could be going full donk in a freeroll with any ace, (not in a mlp game please   ).

But keep in mind what has previously been successful has happened for a reason.

did you mean switching styles to adapt to the table ?
& is it for tournament play or cash table play ?

well all have a style that we mainly play, but as the table conditions are not always the same, we have to adapt to them.

it's no benefit to play mainly tight aggresive, then for no reason switch to a maniac style, just for the sake of changing, unless the table is weak of course...

if your running into a week of playing well but losing, well, it's just a bad week, there's no reason to change what has been working for you. we all go through slumps, those peaks & valleys make ya appreciate the wins even more...

without changing styles, if its working well for you, make a well timed bluff, & if they fold, show it, if you've been at the same table for awhile, it changes their perception of you, or raise UTG with suited gappers, 9-7, if you hit, great, if you take a stab @ the bluff & win, also show it, but be careful with that...

switching gears is really a table dynamic.  however I am finding it hard, in my own game, mixing in a LAG style to my typical TAG philosophy.

I have recently received some advice that helps...to try to add to your game, choose to play nth hand, no matter what the cards.  For example, I choose to play every 15th hand, NO MATTER  WHAT.  That means that I will open for a raise if it hasnt been opened.  I will reraise if it has been opened and there are no callers.  I know this sounds like recklessness, but this will get you into a differnt mentality.

Another way of doing this is to draw to random cards out of a deck of cards before each tourney or cash game session.  the 2 cards now become a hand that you play like AA each time you get them.  Again, this will throw off your opponents and also help you add new elements to your game

Depending on the level you play at, mixing it up can be quite over-rated.  If your opponents are just playing their hands and not noticing your play style (or noticing it bu not adapting to it by changing their play), there's little reason to change gears.

That's why, for example, nits can win consistently at small stakes.  They can fold 20 or 30 hands in a row and still get action because their opponents don't realize they're nits.

Here is a couple of suggestions on how you can learn to be a better player.  You don't want to learn to mix up your play, as much as learning to get a read on your opponent.  If you know your opponent is weak, you can almost never lose.

Suggestion:
Play in a low limit hold'em game, and raise pre-flop every hand.  From the flop on, try to outplay your opponents.  The one thing this exercise does it makes you become a better player.  I first learned about this from Negreanu article.  You will go broke, so play at a low limit.  But, you will learn a lot.

Another suggestion is to play in a no limit tournament, and look to raise first in a hand with almost any playable drawing hand or better.  Again, try to outplay your opponent from the flop on.

The result will be that your hand reading ability will improve AND you will know that it is not important to vary your game but to play your opponent.

I hope this helps.

Try covering your hole cards up and play blind in a sit n go
This also helps you get a better read on your opponents
