Is there a time to gamble on a cash tableI can't think of one.
I don't mean making a considered bet with a marginal hit on the flop or tight call on the river. Just a ... you know, a hail Mary short stack tourney gamble.
Erm... thinking as I type; does shoving all-in pre-flop with A-A count as a gamble?
Hey I can think of one... I had some dead money on a site I needed to work up to $50 to cash-out, and didn't have the time or inclination to work it up, so went to a $1 table, took my first half decent hand, shoved over the top of a pre-flop raise with JJ ran into kings... rivered a J and ran away.
So, aside from me being a donk, is there a time to gamble on a cash table.

As someone who plays cash far more than i do tourneys i think a lot depends on what you are calling a gamble
I think you gotta take more notes on players than you do in tourneys because you are likely to come up against them pretty regularly if you tend to multi-table then if you have a good read on them a well timed gamble can and does work as long as they know what you're about also
Also if you do multi-table i think you gotta find a strategy which works for you and stick to it without being dazzled by what other players are doing
As far as sitting at a cash table short stacked why do that if you have a small bankroll at a site which you were looking to donk off or try and build up quickly to cash out you would be better playing HU

Thanks Ram'
When you say, "a well timed gamble" do you mean well timed bluff? If no; what is a well timed gamble.
I am not fully sure if there is such a thing as a gamble.
As far as being short stacked is concerned, I have seen many players reload thier table chips at a certain minimum level so they are not short, and an equal amount of players who eek out their last dollar.

Not so much a bluff as a marginal hand which could be bigger than you're representing
as far as a gamble goes i think the play will mean more if you know the player you're in the pot with knows what your capable of hence the reason for taking more notes at a cash game
I know sometimes in a cash game if i'm playing against other "grinders" i will show my cards whether i am bluffing or playing a monster just to keep em honest

I so what I think you're saying is, you consider a good bluff (a considered reasonable bluff play) to be a semi-bluff and a gamble to be a stone cold bluff.
Is there much value in a stone cold bluff on a cash table; and if there is, is it much use at low level cash games.
Anyone else please join in, I'm interested in all views.

Bluffing on a cash table can be a good weapon but once your caught out you gotta get out of there before you getted tagged or you gotta tag them so you know they know what your up to
I find playing cash tables to a tried and tested formula works well until someone works out what your up to then you gotta start slowing down with the aggression when their in the hand or move on to a new table

everything is gamble, but the question is the gamble u take u do it smart or it just donk move. If u do it smart you will win in the long run but maybe not now, because every thing have there variance, and I can tell you POKER is the game that have high variance... but surely in the lonrun you will win ... in the loooooooooooooong run

lol looooong run lol i think you had it right to start with everything is a gamble. my best advise is to pay attention to how the players are playing at the table your at, if they are playing loose then it might be hard to come out ahead but they are easier to catch if you have a hand. But if the table is playing tight you might be able to steal some blinds. be careful though I have seen tables jump back and forth.
