I know what I did wrong.
But what is your take on how it should have been done correctly.

Well wrong is debateable after all you got Katy to lay down the best hand.
But I don`t really like the way you played it on any street.
Pre-flop I`m making a standard 4x raise. Sat in the cutoff you could have a wide range of hands and if you happen to only take the blinds so be it.
On the flop when Katy bets out I`d probably have put in a small re-raise just to find out where I am. It seems likely she has hit part of the flop and as she could have almost any 2 cards there are flush and straight possibilites on the board. I`d probably have re-raised to about 100 maybe a little more.
The turn brings a possible straight, I would definitely have re-raised there to find out where I was.
The river is a lethal card it could mean a set or a flush and I think you`re very lucky to get away with not going broke here. I`m not sure how many chips Katy had but I think I would have made a crying call there.
Don`t want to sound harsh but I can`t think of a worse way you could have played the hand (except limping pre-flop with the aces). You`re passive throughout just calling with no idea if you`re beaten on a dangerous board and then you throw it all in after the river against an opponent who has bet out on every street.

This was the second hand of the tourney if I remember correctly and Katy was left with 1100 chips after.
I think the only thing that saved kn from an instant call from Katy was the fact that the river card was a heart, which probably had her wondering if he had a flush.

I gotta agree with mighty mouse, yes ya won the hand, but only min raise preflop, & you only CALLED both the flop & turn instead of a re-raise, very lucky that she had to put you on a flush & she folded, but not at all donkish as title suggests...
pre-flop, no less than 3x the BB, really, 100 should be the raise if any chance to chase off a marginal hand, cuz if they hit, your gonna end up losing a lot anyways, so y not raise it up early on...
she bet 40 on the flop, I would re-raise to 120 minimum.
the turn, now that it's not possible to get runner runner for ace high flush, I would re-raise to a push...no way is a player getting a cheap look @ a flush or straight draw at that point...

Everytime.
I played that hand soooooooooo ugly sooooooooo terribly wrongly on every street. But I had my reasons (Not valid as a way to justify any of it) but I'm good with it.
Come on give me your worst... and you can't be too harsh with your condemnation of my play... :q71: :q72: :q70:

The only reason you get away with that hand is because the hits the river. You played it like you were on a draw the entire way through the hand. What made you think that katy hadn't made a flush? Is it because you thought she wouldn't lead out with a draw? I think you were just askin' for a crackin'. For some reason you wanted to look like a fish. Have you grown weary of your table image? How much did the fact that this was very early play into your strategy for this hand?

Ok, I've had time to think about this whole hand and this is what I've come up with. You took down the pot with the worst hand. So the question is not how did YOU misplay it but how did your opponent misplay it.

I don`t think Katy did misplay it although she could have played it better. She calls the weak raise which is quite correct. She bets out on the flop for 40, a slightly strange number and I might have been tempted to overbet slightly there say around 60. Nonetheless nothing that wrong with the bet.
When she`s called you can tell from the next bet that she has a piece of the flop but is worried about k-n`s hand. To me at least it looks like the bet of someone who is unsure if their pair is good. I would love to know what Katy put k-n on by this street because if she suspects an overpair I like the bet but if she is worried about a flush draw then the bet needed to be doubled to give k-n bad odds to draw.
On the river I like the lead out and am surprised she folds to the re-raise. The turn and river play don`t really add up and I think at the last minute she panics over the possibility that k-n has made a flush and folds her hand.
How does k-n win the hand? That`s easy he put Katy to a decision for all her chips.
The only mistakes Katy really makes imo is not betting enough on the flop and turn. I realise she`s beaten on both those streets but nonetheless her bets don`t get her the information she needs. If she bets 80 on the flop and k-n calls it seems unlikely he has a flush draw although he might call one with poor odds early in a tourney I suppose. Again on the turn it`s not really a big enough bet to drive out the draw and that`s why she ends up folding on the river.

No reason for any reraise in this situation. flush + set possibilities - you only get called when you are beaten. this is the only mistake I think.
Watch High Stakes Poker! I've learned from those guys a lot, especially plays on rivers like this.

ok, from an other point of view (the last thing is going through my mind in a river like this is the bluff). there are so many cards that can beat you and can call you, her river bet tells you she is not weak. at least she had a set, or even a straight or fullhouse. I think most of players would call that bluff-like reraise allin with a set.

Some great points being made throughout this thread.
I have said I cannot defend my play because it was pure donk.
To add information, in the original results thread I told of my a dumb idea;
| Quote: | Truth be told, I usually play correctly/safe with 'big' hands, but so often in the past month they have not paid me dollar one.
I slow played them to try to earn a few chips; my all-in was trying to keep you (katy) in the game. I was sure you weren't on the flush and believed if I made a raise you could call it was going to put you in deep do-do. |
All I wanted, was to earn a big pot; if Katy had made a big bet early in the hand I would have killed it there and then. But I got a little greedy and a lot lucky.
