Merge connection grief
I used to have a really poor broadband connection, but after several rants at my ISP in the UK it suddenly got better and I can surf the web and open up poker sites without my PC going into meltdown.
The only downside is that since the broadband connection perked up (about a week ago) I can't get a proper connection to any Merge software including Carbon and Poker Nordica.
The initial connection comes up as excellent (green bar in the top right corner of the software) but then it disappears to zilch shortly afterwards, sitting me out of games. I have to log out and log back in again to revive the connection and then it vanishes again milliseconds later. Very frustrating.
So I've now got the best internet connection I've ever had and the worst connection to Merge software I've ever had. Somewhat perplexing.
My ISP tends to be worse than useless on these matters. I've got a feeling that in giving me a more stable connection they have changed settings which allowed the Merge software to run OK.
I would love to tweak the settings myself, but don't really know where to start. Has anyone else had any Merge specific connection problems or is it just little old me?

For the past week or so I have had similar problems with Nordica.
I don't think it is at their end, more likely it is a problem with one of the many connections on route.
What ISP are you using.

TalkTalk. I think they've got a link-up with AOL so I don't know if the problem's coming from that end of their operation.

A lot of people in the UK are experiencing problems. I know that Liam over at PDC has looked into it and he says it`s nothing to do with their servers so it`s most likely an ISP issue. He managed to find this which might apply to you.

My own connection at Merge has a tendency to drop (usually at the worst possible moment) but I`m with BT.

I have had a very bad experience with TALKTALK - initially they offered a trial period with guaranteed refund if dissatisfied - VERY DISSATISFIED -
NEVER RECEIVED THE REFUND despite numerous emails and letters and promises.
So BEWARE!!!!!!!

Its to do with Carphone Warehouse which own Talk Talk and also recently bought AOL UK.
As well as all merge sites you will probably have problems with Ipoker Sites as well, TItan CD etc

I've alredy got my MAC code from AOL and already pre signed up elsewhere although had to buy out the remaining part of my contract
Maybe Beckham needs to do the same to play for Milan LOL although it will cost him alot more
Apparently on a thread I found people had lots of problems getting the MAC codes but when I rang AOL the other day for the umpteenth time there was a pre recorded message on the phone about people who had requested their MAC codes would receive them shortly
Guess lots of people have had enough with AOL and they have decided to play by the rules

I've had slightly more connections problems than usual as of late--I thought it was a flukey thing. One really bugged me--I was playing in a $100 added MTT. I had a full house on the river, and my opponent had trips. He tried to go all in, but lost connection and checked. I tried to go all in, but lost connection and checked behind. I could've busted him and moved into a virtual tie for chip lead. Oh, well.

could have been worse, he could have bet it & you could have timed out...

Yeah, we discussed it after the hand, because we were both confused and, initially, pissed off. Kinda laughed about afterwards, though, cuz yep, it coulda been worse.
