Fix for players with software stuck at "Connecting"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All!

Microsoft recently made an error in their Windows Defender updates which caused an important line to be removed from the windows HOSTS file. This line is what is preventing the software from connecting to the servers.

To add the line back in to the HOSTS file, follow the steps below:

1) Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2) Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3) Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt (Windows needs your permission to continue) or enter your administrator password if requested
4) Click File -> Open
5) Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6) Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
7) Select "hosts" and click "Open"
Above the line "::1 localhost", add the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" (without the quotes).
9) Click File -> Save and then close notepad

The original file will look like this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

::1 localhost

------

After making the changes, the file should look like this:

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

I hope that this fixes the issue for everyone. Please let us know if it doesn't fix your problem by contacting support or posting in this thread.

It appears Microsoft released a "Defender" patch that blew away critical lines in people's hosts file. This meant that people could no longer connect to local host meaning the flash movies could not connect to the poker client. This in turn means those people affected would not be able to log into the software.

Microsoft released a new patch shortly after but it did NOT fix the hosts file problem. This means anyone who upgraded their defender after the first patch but before the 2nd patch will be affected. The only solution is for those people to modify their hosts file.
