just a quicky a little debate on league points i think league points should be only availalbe to to games all members can play other wise it is not a fair way to run a league

would like a bit of feed back on this point what do all the members think ? who ever plays more games obivously has the best chance to win the league but that does not show a true reflection of who is the best player

if southampton play more games than chelsea does that make them a better team because have generated more points i think not

anyway just my veiw bigjoo

i have to agree with you joo on this, the table couldbe a bit tilted when there are comps in the league evereyonecant bein

still i feel it is a good thingto encourage the topposters! i know i am not one of those and havent been close to be one of them. but maybe it would be more fair to have the top posters sng as a bonus feature and not have it as a league event

i dontknow, maybe put up a poll for the members to vote or just accept the standingrules, i dont know, but i see your point joo!

Here is my 5 cents worth ......

We have been giving incentive league points out for every top poster tournament thus far. To change it now all of a sudden I think would be unfair.

Every league member has the same opportunity to make more posts and participate in this forum, so I do not see it as unfair just because some of them choose not to.

If they want more league points, they just need to start making some qaulity post contributions to this forum and be the top 10 posters.

To me that is the easy part ..... The hard part is being top 3 out of the 10

As far as I am concerned the top 3 are the best we have (cream of the crop in participation and Texas holdem) and I feel that they should be rewarded for thier efforts.

The reason for a small league point incentive in this tourney is:

That we have lots of members playing in the freerolls that only come here when there is a tourney due. We want to reward loyalty & frequent quality posting.

The league is not a professional sporting body, its here to provide players with an opportunity to play quality freerolls that resemble real MTT play. Please read this post about helping new members improve their game http://www.my-local-poker.com/ftopic673.php . You can then see that getting the good players to post more quality poker strategy will improve the standard of our membership & have a knock-on effect to future freeroll prize pools.

Note that the league points awarded are not very high, first place is only equal to finishing 9th in a league freeroll. Please also note that we will only ever award extra league points to this & the OFC Tourney...No others. The tourney has a prize pool of $50 so we also need more incentive in it to play real poker, if you are not doing so well, there is still a chance that you can scrape in to third for a few points

The MLP league is all about improving your game, without the Top Posters we have no new information for newbie players. This is at the core of our concept. I do understand your thinking here but for the reasons I have stated above the Top Posters Tourney points will stay in place for as long as this forum exists.

I guess you could always just work out the percentage of wins per tournament entered, though I'm not volunteering to do the maths on that.

This is really just a spuriois posting so's I can remind people when refering to Southampton Football Club, to curtiously use their full name of Southampton Nil.

Well to be really faire we would need to close the league now and accept no new members until 2007. That is not going to happen.
Giving points for the ofc is the same you are not only playing vs mlp players so again unfair.
I think the only point of the league is finishing top30 so you get the extra tourney at the end. 1st, 10th or 30th doesn't really change. Some have played twice the tourneys( top10 posters mouthly ones... ).

We could keep an other score board that could be a little more balanced just for fun. Then we could really see the top mlp.

To take the football methaphore.
Don't you think that the players that come and train 3 times a week schould play more than the ones that come only once or twice?
