Raise Or Fold?Another hand from that OIFC thing.
Stage #1610324437 Tourney ID 4313142 Holdem Multi Normal Tournament No Limit 20 - 2009-04-22 17:18:20 (ET)
Table: 1 (Real Money) Seat #7 is the dealer
Seat 2 - HOUSECATS1 (579 in chips)
Seat 3 - MURATORE (1,410 in chips)
Seat 5 - _WAYLANDER_ (1,662 in chips)
Seat 7 - KNOW_NUFFIN (2,800 in chips)

WSOP10243 - Posts big blind 20
*** POCKET CARDS ***
Dealt to _WAYLANDER_ [5c 5s]
HOUSECATS1 - Raises 70 to 70
MURATORE - Folds
_WAYLANDER_ - Calls 70
A pretty standard call I think. Blinds are low and I could win a pretty big pot.
KNOW_NUFFIN - Folds
ARSENAL28 - Folds
WSOP10243 - Calls 50
*** FLOP *** [4h 7d 6d]
WSOP10243 - Checks
HOUSECATS1 - Bets 220
So the crunch decision. I have an open ended straight draw. HC has another 280 or so chips left. I`m only doing 2 things here re-raising or folding. If HC has an overpair I`m probably in decent shape unless it`s 88. He could just have 2 overs or he might have a flush draw.
The final worry is that there is a player still to act after me. If he`s setting a trap for HC I don`t want to walk into it. As things stand I have a decent stack and see no reason to gamble a third of my chips at this time so . . .
_WAYLANDER_ - Folds
WSOP10243 - Folds
HOUSECATS1 - returned (220) : not called
*** SHOW DOWN ***
HOUSECATS1 - Does not show
HOUSECATS1 Collects 220 from main pot
*** SUMMARY ***

I think you did right. I love those types of hands if I'm the blind, I'd reraise in a heartbeat. But being in late position is another story.

I'd prolly fold there too.
You're gonna make the straight 1 in 3 but not the top end of it and will be expecting HC to go hard at it on the turn card.

I would be afraid of the flush draw. If someone is going for flush it greatly lowers your outs for the straight to 6 cards. Not good odds.
He could easily have an over pair to you too which means you have about a 36% chance of hitting straight and winning.
Only time I might call this would be in a bounty game!

if there's one thing to avoid, is an open ended straight draw, when 2 flush cards hit on the flop, unless the cost is marginal (the other is way short, no others in the hand & you got lots of chips) or you also have a flush draw to go with it...
sure, they might not have a flush draw, but many times they do & obviously the outs are reduced, so, imo, it just aint worth it...

It's still early enough that there's little reason to play a marginal draw for so much of your stack.
