Is this such a bad call? I took all kinds of grief for it at the table but it was my bb and it was a bounty tourn. and I had a 3x the chips of anyone else at the table. shadowsmoker had an accolade showing him to be a Bounty Master and if he could reach thru the screen I would be a dead woman. I have never seen anyone so ticked off. Do I owe this guy an apology for the suckout or was it the right call?

insta-call, as their all in @ that point & you have lots of chips...tell him if he's so good, he already knows you had to call with anything there...

Dunno what they are crying about. 
It's not as if you took out a monster. 8-2 off is rubbish cards but for minimum when holding a big pile, why not.

As a rule of thumb if your getting better than 2:1 odds to call, you should call with about any two cards. (Only have to win the hand 1 in 3 times to make it profitable)

It's always curious when people get upset after their opponents do exactly what they wabted - in this case, call with two rags. Drawouts happen. In fact, they happen fairly often with two rags when they're live. Whether it's an insta-call would seem to depend at least somewhat on the proportion of your chips you need to call off, not just that it's 1 BB, but assuming losing wouldn't put a major dent in your stack, calling is eminently reasonable.
