Playing the $1.10 NLH game today on pokerstars I was in around 100th from 120 left with a 20K stack. Big blind was 1600.
I picked up Queens from mid table and made it 6400 to go.
The button called and then raised my 6400 C-bet on the flop… Js Kd 9s.
I believed I was behind so folded.
My question.
Was my C-bet too strong (it left me quite short), I even wonder would a check there have been better.

6400 + 6400 (not counting re-raise) = 29350 is now in the pot, with you contributing 12,800 of that, & your left holding 8K aprox in chips & a 1600 BB, it's a crying insta-call, hope that you ran into ace rag to ace jack etc...or smaller PP...

I think the size of the C-bet is pretty much right. Anywhere from 1/2 to 2/3 to 3/4 of the pot is in the normal range.
What I would question is the size of the initial raise. Once the blinds reach those kind of levels you`ll usually find that 2 1/2 to 3xbb will be just as effective and you keep the pot a little smaller meaning your c-bet can also be smaller. However, raising the amount you raised and intending to c-bet irrespective of the flop I think you might as well just push all-in. You only have 12xbb anyway. That`s not really enough for any fancy play but it does still have pretty good fold equity. Push and you either pick up the blinds and antes or you have a chance to double.
Spoiler:
Well I wrote my reply before looking at the HH. It`s pretty obvious you would have been called if you pushed and obviously he out flops you. However with a push you would have had 2 more cards to try and hit. As it turns out you would have had 6 outs on the turn and river giving you just under 25% to win the hand from that point.

It was a touch bigger than I would have liked to bet with queens, but I'd been on the table for about half an hour and thought it was playing quite nicely. Most pre-flop raises, especially those from early seat were being respected and I had not seen any fishy calls.
I just wonder if I had checked the flop, would I have got a free card.
