what rules of poker that surprise you?

here is a rule that suprsie me i learned it few years  ago and they have same rule on the most and all the big online rooms...  for that matter just everyonline  room too..  the one that suprsie me a few years ago...

is that you can not be telling the truth about your hand  while your in or not until after the hand is over and that u can  not give advice to a player if u your in  hand or not during the hand.. to affect the play
Know-nuffin

I think that is pretty much standard in all poker games. It's an anti collusion/ante spoiler rule.

The one that usually confuses me is the pot bet. It seems that subject to local rules where a pot bet can be the size of the pot as it stands, or the size of the pot if you had called.

never understood this one, went to the local casino, sat down wearing only my chaps, & they wouldn't deal me in, some BS about a dress code, like I'm going to wear a dress FFS...

I might be wrong here but i have understood it as you can not give advice and talk about youre hand, if it is good or not until you are HU vs a guy and you allready made youre move?

Notice that i have never been on a casino yet, so i might be wrong here..
Miklosik

The only two ppl that can talk about a hand during play are the two that are involved in the HU.

We had this exact convo at the casino last night.

How about the ruling that men can play in "women only" tournaments.
Otherwise they are guitly of sex descrimination.
They should at least make the men wear a dress if they want to play in women's tournyes.

the  other  thing   if i had aces and i was  involed in the play. and  i told  the person i had aces..  that is  not allowed  but if  i did  not have  aces    and  told  that i had aces    while  in play that is  allwed  but i guess the only way to find that out  is  if  you call..

for expample  look at what  tj said  in wsop 2003

Great find Adam.

The players took it in good humour, but I can only imagine how sick I would feel making that mistake.
DangerMouse

Nice find, that is very sick.
Miklosik

couldn't have happened to a nicer guy imo.
