Why bother playing poker on a friday

Seriously.

I don't like to moan about a beat or two; we all suffer them and dish a few out now and then. However, I am coming around to the idea that friday is donk day.

Sure, we need the fishes or we wouldn't have any supper, but I so often find the play at differing sites is much more loose on fridays, than on early weekdays.

Does anyone else feel friday is the worst day for poor calls.

This was one of a few I saw today, the guy with Q-Q raised  4 or 5 bbs, 2-2 re-raised K-K shoved and after Q-Q called, 2-2 decided his twos were any good and called all in too... PRE-FLOP.

playing on fridays

I havent really gave that much thought about playing on fridays. However you may be right. People might be playing much looser because they just got paid and have money to throw around or maybe they are drunk lol.

I haven't noticed any difference between earlier in the week vs. Fri. or Fri to Sun.  However, it's possible my sample isn't random because I almost always make some effort at table selection.

Ya see ~ I'm not just a pretty face.

I have notice that later in the night it seems to get worst. Might be because of the alcohol or a little to much smoke but it does seem to be worst as the night progress. Then there is a point it seems they mostly turn into guppies because they can't make out their cards or just don't care.

That's certainly possible, although it's obviously a generalization.  In my case, I know I've had decent success playing on a couple of sites where many of the players are European.  I often play in the evening my time, which is late night / early morning on the other side of the pond.

Why play on new years eve or  day?
SoSoft

I think there are a lot more loose/drunk/crazy players on Friday nights. I think I even know some of these people. LOL

but you reminded me of the time hubby and I went to Reno on Christmas, cause we thought it would be nice and peaceful what with everyone staying home for X-mas. When we got to Reno, it was more crowded than EVER ... Turns out many asian people think X-mas is a lucky day! LOL -- go figure.

You really have to wonder these days about what is going on with online poker.
I watched the 60 minutes report last night about people making million sof dollars by cheating in online poker. Employees of the site seem to be the biggest cheaters, They use admin accounts to see what cards everyone at the table has. They go allin with 22 and damn if there isn't a duece on the river to give them a donk win. Maybe they aren't donks, maybe they are worse, maybe they are cheats.
I used to have faith in the poker rooms because it made sense to me that they would not want anyone to think cheating was going on, because it would ruin their business, seems my faith was misplaced.
PoolDemon

there were 2 big rooms caught by that type of scam, Absolute & Ultimate, both are now on a different network (together) which shouldn't be able to have that happen again.

here's an interesting utube vid on it :

as for the regular guy, playing lower limits, this had no effect on "us"...

Yeah sure, I would agree that Friday night poker is fairly loosey-goosey...the more fish in the pool the increased likelihood of soul-crushing suckouts.

I am with the picky crowd.  Watch the table for a while before joining.  Focus on private buy-ins over public free-for-alls, etc.

Helps to keep me saner...or as sane as a pokeraddict can be.
Arjonius

At the levels where members of this forum play, I don't think cheating is worth worrying about.  It's possible, yes.  But for the same amount of risk, a cheater can simply play at higher levels and increase the amount they can steal by orders of magnitude.
