Verys stupid call on my part!!! very very stupid

I hold A T os and I smooth call a small raise pre-flop/ flop comes 3s3c8h
so I thought ah no flush here no straight I have high card so ill bluff plus why would he raise pre-flop with a 3 or 8 right but I bluffed much too big!!! I bet like 10,000 chips this is mid-late MTT blinds are 1K/2K getting close to money!!! the guy re-raises allin like 45,000chips so its quite obvious he hit a set but I call it anyway(must have been distracted to call such a raise) any way we see the cards and he has pocket 88 for a full house, so im done with like 4,000 chips left but the Turn and river reveal A and A for me!!! I felt bad for the guy cause he had the nuts and I made a super long shot runner runner!!!!! finished in 2nd place that day out of 360 or so.

Guess that prolly wont happen again LOL

Okay, played 2 tournaments so far, Lost KK to A rag, and JJ to K8 allin preflop on the first hand of the tournament. While I don't really consider either of these to be really bad, of late I seem to be cursed.

Truushot, depends he might have had pot odds to call, and you might have had no chips compared to his big stack (if that is the case), if not then he's an idiot that just plays freerolls obviously and try and stay away form them.

No worries Var ...... You are probably not the first to make a stupid call and then luck out ........

AT off huh? Might I ask what your position and that of your opponent was?

If you think I am attempting to gain information on your play for tomorrows tourney to use to my advantage ....... you are probably right

It's probably the hardest thing to do!!! To get a read that the other player has quad K's when you have Trips A's. Virtually impossible, I would have been Allin also.

Never play AA slow on the bubble, you have played for too long to get outdrawn, but to be honest its just real bad luck, you didn't do anything wrong by the book, that's for sure.

Funny thing I see all the time, guys forget that the best starting hand is not the holy grail, I mean hold-em is played using 7 cards, Right? They think that its their god given right to win with AA...
It's just not like that. & the proof is out there to see. AA looses a lot, it has trouble making a straight o or a flush, I try to remember that it is also only one pair.

With AK, Qk, JQ, 67 etc... I can make two pair a straight & if its suited a flush. I learnt this early on from Super System. Doyle said in a cash game he preferred AK over AA or KK, It's far easier to get away from after the flop so you won't loose your whole stack on it when a guy flops trips a straight/ flush draw or two pair.

Play The Rockets Strong guys, you dont want more than 2 callers, thats for sure

I had a terrible bad beat yesterday, I was big blind with Q 10 suited and someone raised twice big blind so I called and flop came Q 4 10 all off. I checked to slow play my two pair and this guy goes all in and he had me covered . So I thought it was a great opportunity to double up! He had AK and the jack came on the river of course! AAAAARRRRGGGGHHhhhhhhh! I need to just quit for a while.LOL

My luck with 2 pair flops is not that successful either ...... especially from the blind. Ugggggg!!!!! I feel your pain especially with a rainbow flop, not to mention someone always having 2 over cards but not hitting the flop and then willing to lay it all on the line

I am glad that it is Monday cuz I have had the worst week of my life for poker. I had yet another bad beat yesterday, I had QJ suited and a small raise was made so I called and so did someone else. Flop came 4 Q J and I raised a bit more and calls by my two opponents then another J on river well that was it and I went all in and both people called. A K and pocket Aces. I was way ahead with only one more ace out there and then came the river and it was that last ace! I feel like giving up online poker for life lol. But since today is Monday and a new week I feel like my luck is about to change!

Somebody raises, another goes allin so I follow suit, 1st raiser folds. Turn is A...worst nightmare???? Yep, river is A....Get beat with 4 Ks by 4 As...and site did not even have a bad beat jackpot. Guy very nicely said sorry...

KK s are my demon hand!

Hi, I just wanted to tell you about the bad beat I had today. I was holding pocket 6's, so I called to see the flop. There was two A's and a 6. Great, I call all in a guy calls me with A and 8. I knew what was coming and sure enough 8 on the river. I am learning that when the flop looks like the sure thing, I better take it a bit slower.

Twice in the last two weeks I've seen allins with 99% to 1% odds with the 1% guy hitting runner runner for the win on poker.com freerolls. I'm sure it is coincidence but sometimes it makes you wonder. - JR

I got burned in a tourney last week with two reverse boats. First one i had 7Q flop 77A, turn A, I'm thinking yes I got him now. I bet 8500 to put him all in and to lock my boat. He called, that was a quick 8500 I'm thinking. We show, he has AX, river was an A. I'm looking a 777AA for me AAA77 for him. I forget what the other had was but the same thing happened to me. I wound up with next to nothing on that hand a wound up going out like 32 where 30 was the cut off. Those darn reverse boats get me everytime.

Well.....I have had it with the big slick. In the last 5 times I have played it they have flopped me a king. I stay in. Once they flopped A and K then another K. Well I thought I had it but in all 5 times it has been pocket A's that have taken me out. I know it was the best hand but it seems like I was being set up. lol I don't think I will play it anymore.

ROARS like a lion....

well at least like a pussy cat.

Last night, first hand in $250 freeroll, I have pocket AK spades from the button, two fold and two flat call.

I raise 3x the bb (text book style), the blinds fold; the early seats in turn call.

Flop comes out TJQ rainbow

No messin' guys, I raise half my stack to kill the hand but am re-raised all in.

I had to go. I figure one or both have K straight or A straight.

We show and I see one K straight and 8 5 suited. WTF ?

And to cut long story short 8 5 hearts matched the ten from the flop, hit running hearts and took two big straights out.

Donk play in freerolls is just something ya gotta live with And yes, occasionally they get lucky It is good to know that style of play doesn't pay off in the long run

I agree with Nat about the play in free rolls. I've found that almost anytime you go allin early in a large entry free roll that someone always calls. No sense slow playing any powerful starting hand early. Just go all in, cross your fingers and hope the odds hold up. - JR

Yeah, the first 4/6 hands are a real bar room brawl; most times I usually like to check fold, but on that occasion I was almost duty bound.

There seems to be two styles in the on line play for the first hour, those whom go all in with 7 2 off, and others that slow-play everything.

Perhaps I should keep box of tissues handy for such times.

not sure if this is bad beat. it's more of a situation of being out played. i was playing in this social poker league which had about 40 players at this one venue. the guy said they have 40 + venues so i've been to more than one to get my revenge on the guy that outplayed me. holding 10/j and called a bet of 200. floped full house. naturally i slow played so when an ace came on the turn i was rubbing my hands together as i was certain someone had hit their ace and low and behold this chap starts betting. flat call from me. river another ace. all in goes the guy. after a long deliberation i folded. to my he showed me hs pocket 7's and his 2 pair. i went to another venue in wycombe to get my revenge and revenge i got beating him twice to finish high in the leage and in the process knocking him down a few places.
if you fancy league poker check them out (Nat removed web address 10/11/06)

This happend in pokerstars.com (personally, i think its the home of bad beats.) so anyways, i had pocket aces. So i decided to give a small raise in the beginning to let them know that i might have something. Only two people call. Flop, is A, 5, 6. So i hit a set of aces. So i raise a little more. They call. Turn is a 2, and the river is a 4. and some guy had A, 3, and hit runner runner for the straight. I lost 10 bucks on that hand. I got so mad!

Here is another situation. I was in a freeroll with 10,000 people, top 25 or so advance. I was playing in this thing for about 3-4 hours. 50 people left, i am in about 40th place. I have pocket aces. A large stack goes all in, so i do the obvious call. He has 10 9 os. Flop is 7, 8, J. He hits straight on river and knocks me out in 49th place.
