Easy Guide On How To Use This Forum
Post by Know-nuffin with an edit or two from harry

Do I have to join, and does it cost anything.
Membership to the forum costs nothing; this site is Free. To become a member click the Join for free link in the top banner. To find out more about leagues click here.

Will I get loads of spam emails.
No, there are no downloads, no spyware and no adware. Your email address is safe and will not be passed on to other companies, 3rd party's or members. You only receive important news emails from this site if, in your profile, you have checked the box wishing to be notified of events by us, or replies to your posts. There of course have to be adverts to help pay for the site but these are small, are on site only and don't get in the way.

I'm lost and can't find my way around.
The easiest way to move around is by going back to the main index page. You can do this by clicking the forum index link below left of the header on every page on using the "quick links" on the Alternate Poker Forum Toolbar.
Note:-Each room has threads, each thread has posts.

How can I quickly see the most recent posts.
At the side and bottom of the main page are tables showing the latest posts. Click on the title of the post that you want to read.

I want to start posting, how do I do this.
Below a post you want to reply to is a reply button. Click on it, when the link opens, type your reply, then submit it. (There is a preview function too).

How do I start a new topic.
At the top of each forum there is a button marked 'new topic'. Click on it, when the link opens type your comment, then submit it. (There is a preview function too). With new topics you must enter a subject heading.

How will I know if there are new posts to read.
Each forum and each thread has a poker chip icon to the left of the title. Pale blue chips denote items you have already seen, dark blue chips tell of new postings. Further explanation is at the bottom of the main page. Note:- At the main index or in any forum, you can click on the small icon next to the name shown in the last post column, this short cut will take you to that latest post.

What's the difference between a Global Announcement and a Sticky thread.
A Global Announcement contains important information and is displayed at the top of all forums.
While a Sticky thread has items of long term interest, such as the Freeroll League table or the Introduce yourself thread.

Where can I find the banners to download a poker site.
Around the boards in tournament and promotion threads and from the main Alternate Poker site in the Online Rooms Resource page.

How do I send a message to another member privately.
By sending them a Private Message (PM). You can do this by clicking on the PM buttons at that members posts or on their profile page. You can search for a members profile via the member list at the top of each page. Please remember to delete all Inbox and Delivered messages regularly as this may slow down your system. Do not delete your Sent box, as messages are held there until read. They will automatically move to your Delivered box.

What's the difference between the shout box and the chat room.
From the shout box you can say, "Hi", or give quick information to the whole forum. The message won't necessarily be replied too. The chat room is a place to hang out and chat 'live' with other members. It's a good place to visit on tournament days.

Can I edit or delete my posts.
You can edit any of your posts, just use the edit button. Only Moderators and Administrators can delete posts.

May I leave a link on this site to another.
Contact an Administrator for approval before posting any 3rd party content. Please let us know if you notice any link you may think unsuitable. No links are allowed in the Welcome thread.

How can I post pictures on here.
By clicking on the 'Attach File' link at the bottom of the text area when posting.

How can I tell who is a Moderator, and how do I contact them.
Each forum heading has the moderators names. If you need to contact one of the Administrators or Moderators send them a PM.

If I'm being harassed or think someones post is hurtful, or if I do not like the attitude of one of the players at my table for being abusive and/or disrespectful. What can I do.
Send a PM to one of the Moderators or Administrators about your concern. NO form of harassment is tolerated on here.

How can I tell who is online and where they are.
Towards the bottom of the main page it lists who is online. Click the 'Who is online' heading to see which room they are in.

How do I change my picture or details.
Go to your profile via the link at the top of the page. There you can change everything, except for your user name. You will have to ask an Administrator to do that for you.

 Is this site monitored 24/7.
With Administrators and Moderators from different nations, at most times someone is about to help with any enquiry or will get back to you in a short space of time.
