how do you feel about betting into dry side pots with squadoosh?  The eventual winner may have realized a much bigger return if he had simply exercised discipline and waited for the next street.  Both of us that folded to his post flop bet held aces.  But my question is this:  Besides being rude, what is accomplished by betting a dry side pot when you have not improved your hand?

I think it is bad poker to bet when you don't improve your hand. Especially late in a game you always want to eliminate a player if you can. So you all can advance up in pay.

agreed, although i can see some justification for the bet (to my own surprise ) as he has left himself quite short stacked with his pre-flop call and prefers to see the turn and river heads up to give himself the maximum chance to win the pot - could be he even feels that he may be ahead of our all-in player. i probably wouldn't make that play but i don't think it's the worlds worse in his position. as a rule, i think HC is spot on though.

if i may, i would also call into question your play here a bit Mik. it's an awful lot of chips to make that call pre-flop when you're facing a raise and a re-raise. you're calling 1,415 with just an ok starting hand and still 2 to come behind you. you know you're almost certainly behind at this stage and even if you hit your ace (or your 10), you're still going to be in no mans land. surely it would be better to wait until you can be the aggressor with the good stack you've built up rather than calling into this kind of 3 or 4 way action.

Boy, don't I know it!.  I wish I could claim it was a misclick but, unfortunately, that was not case.  If I were a bit more limber I would have been kicking my own arse the minute i hit the call button.
